In which regions does my patent apply?
As a territorial right, it is limited to the geographical boundary of the relevant country or region for which it has been granted.
For obtaining patent protection in other countries or regions, in theory at least multiple patent applications would have to be filed at the relevant national or regional patent office in the legally prescribed time limit, although this procedure has been rationalized and simplified by international agreements such as the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
The applicant should decide to apply for patent rights in countries where his patented products will be sold, and/or in countries where his products will be produced.
